Fun With Math! Geometry Wars Arrives On Nintendo
Wii, DS
(May 29, 2007)
For a few weeks now rumors have been going
around that Sierra Entertainment will be bringing Geometry Wars: Galaxies to
the Nintendo Wii and this has now been confirmed (its also going to be on
the Nintendo DS handheld).
Galaxy Wars: Retro Evolved has been very popular on the 360’s Xbox Live and
now it’s the Nintendo Wii’s turn to share in the fun, but in a more
interactive way as the Wii always does.
If you love old-school arcade fun then you’re going to love the next-gen
version on the Wii that will feature some cool gameplay and action.
Sierra Entertainment are very happy to bring the Geometry Wars brand to the
Nintendo platform and as they should be with the Nintendo Wii outselling all
other games consoles, it’s a big market and Sierra see the extra cash that
can be made from the Wii and DS.
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved combines dual-analog
space-shooting gameplay with futuristic minimalism in a $5 game that's highly
reminiscent of arcade classics like Robotron 2084. The objective is to stay
alive while moving around an enclosed grid that's a little larger than the
size of the screen. As you move and shoot, geometric shapes manifest and
come after you, and you must evade or destroy them without making physical
contact. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved might be one of the most simplistic
games at the launch of the Xbox 360, but in some ways it's also one of the
most thrilling.

that combines appealing graphics and frantic gameplay.
GridWars is basically a freeware PC version of
the popular Xbox 360 game, $5 Geometry Wars. Made by Mark
Incitti, this release features less special effects compared to the
original but if you don't have a 360 and want to see what fans are all raving about this is a good chance to do so.
